Throughout the 23 years during which it has been continuously exerting its activity, the group BCN216 has become a must in the music scene in Spain. Emerged in 1985, the result of the joint initiative of the composer and conductor Ernest Martinez Izquierdo and flutist David Albet, current artistic director of the ensemble. They are residents of Auditori in Barcelona, while recording and performing all over the world. They like to work with other art forms such as dance, theater or cinema.

We have here the opportunity to present a general overview of the musical actuality in Catalonia. The compositions by Ernest Martinez Izquierdo, Hèctor Parra and Ramon Humet give us a realistic idea of the music creation in Catalonia nowadays. The composition from Oliver Rappoport, the youngest composer in this festival, allows us to guess the evolution of comtemporary music in Catalonia.
I love to share the moment of discovering new works, the uncertain moment of the first contact, when you still have the will to perceive all that this new work can bring to you, beyond all negative prejudices, always with a hopeful attitude.
