Sarah Defrise
Named Young Musician of the Year 2022 by the Belgian Music Press Union, Belgian soprano Sarah Defrise has established herself as a leading interpreter of the contemporary repertoire, collaborating closely with many composers of her generation
She performs on international opera stages, including La Monnaie, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Opernhaus Zürich and the Staatsoper Hamburg, with a particular focus on new works and works from the 20th and 21st centuries
She also develops several musical theatre projects, including her solo show “I Hate New Music”, and co-founded the musical theatre company SITTING IN A ROOM in 2025
