BACH/HILLBORG/CAMPO : FROM BAROQUE TO HIP-HOP
Collectif Listening, FootboxG & Freestyle Lab Botanique - Museum , Saint-Josse-ten-NoodeA string orchestra, a top Belgian soloist, hip-hop dance, and three concertos: Bach, Bach Revisited, and Régis Campo's creation, Beatbox Concerto.
An extraordinary encounter awaits. Our hosts are Collectif Listening, a Liège-based string orchestra known for creating innovative and unexpected musical experiences. In an immersive setting, with the audience free to move around and among the musicians, the orchestra brings Bach’s Third Brandenburg Concerto vividly to life. In Bach Materia, Anders Hillborg reimagines the work for our time, adding touches of rock and improvisation.
The evening culminates in the premiere of a dazzling Beatbox Concerto, featuring virtuoso beatboxer FootboxG and two dancers from the hip-hop collective Freestyle Lab. The work was composed by Régis Campo, whose Dancefloor with Pulsing made such a lasting impression at its world premiere during Ars Musica 2019 that, six years later, it earned him the 2025 Victoire de la Musique Classique for Composer of the Year.
