Bruce Brubaker plays Eno Piano
Botanique - Museum , Saint-Josse-ten-NoodeBruce Brubaker offers a piano adaptation of Brian Eno's atmospheric work, an emblem of the post-rock avant-garde.
Emerging from the glam-rock scene, Brian Eno made his mark on Roxy Music’s first two albums before establishing himself as one of the most innovative figures in modern music. As a composer, he pioneered ambient music with Discreet Music and Music for Airports between 1975 and 1978. His collaboration with David Byrne on My Life in the Bush of Ghosts in 1980 also anticipated the rise of world music and sampling.
As a producer, Eno played a crucial role in reshaping David Bowie’s career through the celebrated Berlin Trilogy: Low, Heroes and Lodger, released between 1977 and 1979. Throughout his work, he redefined art rock and explored minimalism, repetition, electronics and self-generating music. Few artists have navigated the many worlds of the avant-garde with such imagination and insight.
In 2015, the American pianist Bruce Brubaker devoted an album to the music of Philip Glass, prompting critic Roland Duclos to write: “Brubaker is to Glass what Glenn Gould is to Bach.” Brubaker now turns his attention to Brian Eno, presenting new piano arrangements of Eno’s contemplative and atmospheric works. The result promises to be nothing short of legendary.
