Commented concert / Benoît Menut masterclass

Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles - Joseph Jongen Auditorium (Chêne Site) , Brussels

This narrated concert offers a unique opportunity to encounter a composer who singularly combines tradition and modernity.

Benoît Menut's lyrical and structured music embraces all stylistic encounters. He conceives of his art as "energy in sound carried by meaning." His works are performed in various festivals and musical seasons (Les Flâneries Musicales de Reims, the Musée d'Orsay, La Chaise-Dieu, Opéra de Rennes, Opéra de Saint-Étienne, Biennale d'art vocal de la cité de la musique, Festival contemporain de Vienne, Festival de chœur d'Arezzo, etc.). Winner of the SACEM Grand Prize for symphonic music and the Francis and Mica Salabert Foundation Prize (2014), he was associated with the Brittany Symphony Orchestra from 2014 to 2018, for which he composed, among other works, the Symphony for a Feather, created at the Rennes Opera and the Théâtre de Cornouaille in December 2016. The following year he wrote his first opera, Fando and Lis , commissioned by the Saint-Etienne Opera based on the play by Fernando Arrabal.
