This concert takes us deep into the High North, encountering chaos and crystal. The musicians give voice to the gentle swirling of snowflakes and gradually our ears accustom to the crunching sound of snow hardening into ice… or is it the sound of ice disappearing?

In a musical journey through Scandinavia, the moving and tragic figure of a polar bear emerges, sinking through ice that has become too thin. Voices of climate specialists and residents of Arctic regions in their own Nordic languages complement the music. This ambitious electro-acoustic creation by Frédéric Verrières is performed by the renowned Quatuor Diotima.

The storyline of the concert unfolds between the infinitely large and the infinitely small. Just as with crystallization, it begins with a single drop of water that freezes, takes on a new form, and accumulates layer after layer until an ice cap is formed.
