ELECTRONIC SOUNDS AND MYSTIC BEATS
Gilles Gobert & Friends @Ictus: 164VANVOLXEM , ForestFrom purely acoustic to vintage electronic, lose yourself in immersive, dreamy soundscapes.
Viola, piano, cimbalom, synthesizers, lapsteel guitar: the instruments on the program of the three sets in this concert are a mix ranging from purely acoustic to vintage electronic. They prove to be the ideal ingredients for immersive and dreamy soundscapes, but also for putting the listener on a wrong foot.
Gilles Gobert draws inspiration from fictional, imaginative characters. Elusive figures that reality barely grasps make way for our imagination instead. For instance, Eshu is a playful messenger who forms the bond between humans and gods in West African Yoruba mythology, and Signor Gomez is a mysterious figure living in an ethereal world full of echoing harps and lap-steel guitars.
It promises to be an evening full of dreamy and cosmic soundscapes, such as those of the fabulous Kaija Saariaho. But however fleeting they may seem, with Gilles Gobert they rest on a solid foundation: the noble power of sincere friendship.
