Three conductors, a choir, a big band, an orchestra, and no shortage of ambition. These are the ingredients of Simon Steen-Andersen’s TRIO, a monumental multimedia spectacle created in 2019.
The Danish composer weaves familiar quotations from music history into a dialogue with archival footage from Südwestrundfunk (SWR). At Ars Musica, this extraordinary work receives its Belgian premiere. Brussels Philharmonic, Brussels Jazz Orchestra, and the Flemish Radio Choir join forces in a dazzling collage where past and present, history and contemporary sound, flow into one another.
A new work by Oren Boneh opens the evening. The young composer approaches the orchestra as a human jukebox, capable of switching effortlessly between musical styles and combining them in unexpected ways.
