UNFOLDING NATURE

Conversation with Kristine Tjøgersen Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles - Joseph Jongen Auditorium , Brussels

The world-renowned composer Kristine Tjøgersen highlights the ties between music and nature throughout the ages, the subject of her dissertation.

UNFOLDING NATURE - Nature Expressed through Classical and Contemporary Composition: this is the title of the dissertation written by the Norwegian composer Kristine Tjøgersen (b. 1982, Oslo) as part of her studies at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz, Austria.

Today, she is a globally recognized composer and collaborates with prestigious ensembles and orchestras (such as the Kronos Quartet, Klangforum Wien, WDR Sinfonieorchester, and Oslo Philharmonic). The central theme in her music is nature, and how we are an integral part of it. Sensitivity and a touch of humor combine with a deep love for sound and a continuous dialogue with other domains (particularly with biology).

Kristine Tjøgersen is participating in a music history session at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. The encounter, open to everyone, will focus on the link between music and life. Throughout the centuries, numerous artists have explored such connections in diverse ways, from Clément Janequin, Jean-Philippe Rameau, and Claude Debussy to John Cage… and Kristine Tjøgersen.
