Lost & Found Writing Workshop
During Next Opera Days 2025, Ars Musica, together with Jeunesses Musicales Bruxelles, organized a writing workshop for young people as part of the music performance Lost & Found.
In the workshop, teenagers explored the eulogy as an artistic and collective form of expression. Together with the composer, the librettist, and the puppeteer, they addressed themes such as life and death by writing their own eulogy, inspired by their experiences and imagination.
The workshop consists of several parts:
- A meeting with the artistic team to discover the creation process and the themes of the performance.
- Collective and individual writing exercises, inspired by music excerpts and examples from film and literature.
- Drafting eulogies for real or fictional characters, in which remembering and the manner in which someone's life is told are key.
- The prepared texts will be heard and seen on posters and with audio recordings in the lobby of the concert hall.
- Total immersion in the creative process by attending the dress rehearsal of the performance.
This project stimulated creativity, listening, and empathy, and offers teenagers a sensitive introduction to contemporary music creation. They were invited to actively participate in a collective artistic experience and learned to express their emotions through a writing workshop.
