Claude Ledoux
Belgian composer, musicologist and professor born in 1960 in Auvelais, student of Philippe Boesmans and Henri Pousseur, he taught musical analysis at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP) and composition at the Royal Conservatory of Mons (Arts²) until June 2026
Explores the links between Eastern and Western cultures while integrating modern technologies
He directed the Centre Pousseur as well as the Ars Musica festival, and in 2013 founded the LAPS Ensemble, an original group combining laptops and acoustic instruments
Among his works, we can mention A Butterfly's Dream (2013-2014) for piano and orchestra, created as a compulsory piece during the final of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2016, S(hakuh)achi Ko(nzert) (2016) for shakuhachi (traditional Japanese flute) and orchestra, or Japanese E-mails, a cycle of short pieces inspired by his exchanges and his travels in Japan
