"O Time, suspend your flight..."
The works brought together in this program all seem destined to fulfill the exhortation of Alphonse de Lamartine.
Thus, at the beginning of his second quartet " Quasi una fantasia ", Henryk Gorecki unfolds a haunting and obsessive sonic ritual, an inescapable and penetrating procession.
Similarly, Arvo Pärt's Ein Wallfahrtslied invites us to experience a musical temporality full of restraint, a pacifying and invigorating musical sobriety.
Philippe Glass creates a hypnotic, kaleidoscopic musical becoming, born from the use of stubborn repetition and the subtle combination of principal elements of music (arpeggios, ostinatos, harmonic marches,…).
Finally, in "For Kate", composed in memory of the tragically deceased pianist Kate de Marcken, Jean-Paul Dessy considers music as a privileged medium to celebrate the life of a departed loved one, to mysteriously testify that her presence is real among us, in the deepest dimension of our being that transcends the limits of space and time.
